Robert Houston, the owner and founder of Garrahan Hat Co., has been dedicated to the art of hat-making since 2009. With a deep respect for craftsmanship and a passion for preserving tradition, Robert started Garrahan Hat Co. with a vision to create custom hats that honor the rich history of American hat-making.
In 2025, Robert proudly acquired the DbarJ Hat Company, continuing the legacy of David Johnson, a respected name in the world of western hats. This acquisition allowed Garrahan Hat Co. to merge the best of both worlds — our refined, custom-made hats alongside the authentic western heritage of DbarJ.
Following the acquisition, Garrahan Hat Co. relocated to Old Town Orange, California, a place steeped in history, perfectly suited to the spirit of our craft. As we move forward, we are committed to carrying the torch of David Johnson and preserving the DbarJ name, using the same equipment and time-honored techniques that made the brand iconic. DbarJ will continue to be our western hat line, available exclusively through Garrahan Hat Co.
